·         Adenia Globosa

A. globosaA globosa

This is a very unusual plant that comes from Tanzania in south east Africa.  It can be grown from seeds or cuttings. You are better off trying the seeds, because I have tried the cuttings with little success.  As it grows, it can become more spherical with its strangely rough and bumpy skin.  It can grow to over one metre tall, with branches protruding to around the same length.  Rarely seen in commercial nurseries circles in the UK, you can only obtain plants like these at specialist succulent nurseries in Europe. Both photos were taken at the Palmengarten in Frankfurt in Germany.
